The town of Milford selected Bates Construction to transform an abandoned landfill into a community recreational area. The landfill was located on a pond in town next to a major highway. Bates cleared the land, capped and shaped the area, and installed passive gas venting. The site now holds three baseball fields and two soccer fields, two parking lots, and access roads. R. Bates & Sons, Inc. completed closure of Milford’s twenty-acre landfill in 1999.

Working with Bates was a positive experience, from start to finish. All facets of construction and closure were completed on time, and to the complete satisfaction of the Landfill Capping Committee and the town of Milford Parks Commissioners.
